Land'O Lakes in the Southeastern Ontario tourism region

The recreation area Land O'Lakes in South Eastern Ontario. Forests, lonely lakes - a paradise for nature lovers and anglers.
When I started my online travel guide for Ontario many years ago, I thought it would be a good idea to put together all the small and interesting places we visited under the already existing name " Land O'Lakes" to present an impression of this really charming landscape.
Since we love small places and we had already spent many beautiful days in South Eastern Ontario I love to share pur experiences with you. I tried to replace all my lost pictures with those from Wikipedia and other donors. Thanks again.
We came to Plevna via Kaladar and Cloyne. As a precaution, we purchased here in the "General Store" a few essentials including peanuts to feed the chipmunks . We had to come back a few times because we run out of supply for these cute creatures.

We stayed in a cottage resort which was close to Plevna on the Buckshot Lake. It was owned by a colleague of me and was operated by his family.
They were still busy renovating and I could see that still a lot of work had to be done to make everything winter proof.
We had made our first cottage vacations in this area and we loved these so much that we became addicted to this kind of accommodation.
We lost contact and as far as I know the resort changed ownership. To do all the required work to operate it plus the always required renovations are certainly not fun. To stay there is a different story.
They did everything for their guests and from the fully equipped kitchen we only used the fridge to keep our beverages cold. We even did not make our own coffee. We enjoyed the company of our hosts.
We went on a fishing tour with the cook, but Elizabeth as well as I did not catch a single fish.
Elizabeth had for dinner one of the fish which the cook had caught in the morning. I had ordered a steak during our fishing tour. It was tender and delicious. Don't put a frozen steak on the barbecue! I has a few of those lately and now I know why hamburgers are so popular.
We went to the restaurant every day and even could order special meals on requests, if we asked for them in time.
Once again, I would like to laze about as one of our German visitors did
I regularly had my ice-cold beer, but the owner's daughter was not allowed to serve it to me, as she was only 18 years old.
unfortunately my colleague did nit stay in this kind of business. Our Swiss friends at Lake Nipissing also sold their beautiful resort where we stayed several times.
We always enjoyed vacations in a cottage. We also found new friends. Here they were squirrels. On Lake Nipissing they were chipmunks. Occasionally we had to protect those from the squirrels, who were very fiendish and tried again and again to chase our little friends away. You should have unpeeled peanuts with you, if you want to make all those little creatures happy!
Elizabeth was occupied for hours talking to them and distributing peanuts. She did not have enough time to read her books in during the day time.
We had to go back several times to nearby Cloyne or Kaladar to buy food for them.
We spent a lot of time on the lake. We had rented a small boat with an outboard motor and chugged around. We landed at small islands to swim there. Then we realized that most of them were not pure wilderness - they were private property. Of course, we wanted to avoid any quarrels with the owners and became more cautious.
The water was very clear and we could see the fish in it. I could not understand why we could not catch any of them

Visit the small "Pioneer Museum" in Cloyne. Admission was free and it gives you a glimpse of how the first settlers lived.
We felt so comfortable in our cottage on Buckshot Lake that we did not even visit the nearby "Bon Echo Provincial Park" at that time.
Since you certainly do not come too often to Canada or even Ontario, you should definitely include this park in your visit program.
Watch the video I've incorporated a link below. Maybe you are planning some day trips there.

Sharbot Lake - many thanks to "P199" and Wikipedia
If we manage to visit Land O'Lakes again, we will have "provincial parks" on our agenda. Not to camp there, but to explore lakes by boat. I think you can rent canoes or kayaks in almost every park on lake.
At Sharbot Lake I'm pretty sure. The resort itself also offers accommodation if you have not rented a Motorhome and do not want to rent a tent. Buy a day pass. You will also find a sandy beach there.

After I had to waste a lot of time in the past to remove dead links I stopped to put links in my site.
