Lindsay and surroundings - many thanks to MapArt
Lindsay in the Tourism Region: Kawarthas Northumberland
Lindsay is located in Victoria County on the Scugog River. This forms part of the "Trent-Severn Waterway".
This system links Lake Ontario with Lake Huron.
It is used by many leisure captains.
In Lindsay we like to visit the city center. It is very clean and Elizabeth always finds little things she desperately needs or wants to give as a gift.
She does not even forget our cats, who are still hungry at home, who are always hungry and are looking for souvenirs.

Lindsay has also a theater - the "Academy Theater". Usually you can go to the theater here without being formally dressed. It is not uncommon for visitors to appear in sneakers and T-shirts. So, if you feel like it, come see a play, a musical or a concert.
We have already experienced that and after the play the actors served coffee and cake and talked with us. That made the evening even more beautiful.
It was a nice day in October
In a Greek restaurant we had a very good and inexpensive lunch. We were sitting almost outdoors. The restaurant has just opened a kind of garage door and we had fresh air and could watch the passers-by.
Do not forget to get to know the really beautiful surroundings of Lindsay in another and very comfortable way - take part in a boat trip with the "Skylark II". These tours are offered between the beginning of June and mid-October. We were, as usual, too late.
The two pictures below show the same motif in Lindsay, once in summer and then in winter. They give you an additional, small insight.
Melanie Wills, the photographer, was 14 years old when she took these pictures. Thank you Melanie for your help.
If you have more pictures about Canada, please let me know.
Lindsay, many thanks to Melanie
You see, even winter has its beauty. For this reason, come in this season many visitors.
I was very pleased that we are not the only visitors who give the same or often even more attention to small towns than the well known tourist centers.
You can discover many little things that the locals do not even notice. A visitor who keeps his eyes open may discover them immediately.
You have much less stress and most of the time nature is always pretty close.
Small events bring often more fun to us than overcrowded events. Small privately owned stores offer sometimes things which even Elizabeth could not find in any of the chain stores. I am not a shopping monster but I loved watching Elizabeth in action.
From Matthias Stadtmüller from Germany we received an email in which he shared my impressions . Mr. Stadtmüller loved his stay in Lindsay: He wrote:
"We are very fortunate to have relatives in Lindsay. With these we could stay during our visit. Lindsay is a very quiet and relaxing city. What fascinated me are the very friendly and helpful inhabitants. We were always treated very courteous.
I was impressed by the city center, with its very well-preserved old buildings. I also welcomed that almost all supermarkets are located in an area on the edge of Lindsay. Here everything is at your disposal what the "shopping heart" desires - from the food market to the shopping mall.
We were fascinated by the diverse flora and fauna. This starts with the many trees in their beautiful colors and ends with frequent encounters with squirrels. If you take a few minutes and go with a handful of peanuts in the garden, you can enjoy the colorful hustle and bustle of the Jays. ".

"The friendliness of the inhabitants is by no means comparable with Germany.
For us Lindsay was the haven of peace from which we could recover from other excursions (for example Niagara Falls, Toronto, Ottawa). No parking problems, less exhaust, less hassle!
By car, all recreational opportunities in the area can be easily reached. No matter if it is Minigolf, one of the numerous locks or maybe even a hockey game in Peterborough.".
